The Hell Is Coming

Karak 2: Inferno expansion brings long-awaited cooperative and solo modes, along with plenty of other new features to the popular family game!

  • Games & Puzzles

The very foundations of the realm are splitting apart, releasing an ancient blaze that threatens to turn the entire land to ash. The world is teetering on the edge of a fiery abyss, and from the last refuge high in the mountains comes a call for help that echoes in every direction. It is a call to heroes brave enough to stand against the destruction that grows stronger with every passing moment…

And so, at this very moment, another adventure in the world of Karak begins. Inferno is the third expansion for the adventure family game Karak 2, introducing four new modules, including cooperative and solo mode. You can add the individual modules separately or combine them to create an even more complex adventure. So, what can you look forward to?

Time Is Running Out

The wishes of Karak fans have been answered! Inferno introduces something that has never been seen in Karak before. In the Infernal Descent, you will have to join forces and take on the game itself. Together, you will attempt to fulfil the victory condition, defeat the Dark General or the Chaos Riders, or conquer the Infernal Towers before the Fire and Ash token reaches the final space on the Infernal Descent track. You can also venture into the depths of Inferno on your own in solo mode.

During your expedition, you will reveal Inferno Event cards. Some will bring immediate complications, while others will have a lasting impact on the course of the game. And then there is the Fire and Ash token itself. Once it starts moving, time begins working against you. On spaces 4–6 of the track, you need 1 additional attack strength to win battles, and on spaces 7–9, you need 2 additional attack strength. If the token reaches space 10, Inferno consumes the world and the game ends immediately.

Fortunately, there is a way to slow its advance. The Ritual of Light allows you to use Soul Stones acquired during the game at Karak Castle to move the Fire and Ash token one space back. However, the Infernal Descent leave little room for error. You will need to time your actions carefully, take risks at the right moment, and make the most of every opportunity to gain precious time.

Three Floors Full of Danger

Infernal Towers will test your strength, courage, and ability to assess risk. Three floors await you, each with increasingly challenging battles. Every floor brings you closer to a valuable reward, but it also presents another confrontation and the risk of losing health. If you emerge victorious, you can continue upward. If you fail in any of the battles, however, the road to the top may become significantly longer. You will therefore have to carefully consider whether you have enough strength to continue or whether it would be wiser to retreat and prepare for another attempt.

Once you conquer a Infernal Tower, you will gain Soul Stones that you will need to win the game. The game ends once you have conquered all three Infernal Towers.

The Last Refuge Needs Your Help

Another new feature is the Last Bastion of Peace, which opens up new ways to strengthen your army and gain Glory. Once the Last Bastion of Peace appears on the game board, new quests become available. Each quest requires a specific combination of resources or units that you must sacrifice in order to complete it. Completing a quest increases your Glory level and also gives you the opportunity to train an additional unit.

The Last Bastion of Peace allows you to train three types of units: Guardians, Amazons, and Riders. Unlike regular units, these allies are not a permanent part of your army. You train them for one specific battle, where they can significantly improve your chances of victory.

Who Will Stand Against the Destruction?

Two new heroes expand your options for dealing with the challenges of Inferno.** Baron Markul returns, equipped with a pair of swords and the ability to use Astral Rifts to move quickly across the game board. This gives him much greater freedom of movement.

The new face is Zyrabela, the Night Specter, who relies on a completely different approach. She rewards you for unused actions and can alter the effects of Magic Scrolls. Her strength therefore lies not only in direct combat, but also in how effectively you manage your options during your turn.

The Adventure Continues

Karak 2: Inferno does not merely add new challenges to the familiar world—it puts you in front of more demanding decisions. It expands the base game with additional options and situations that affect exploration, combat, and resource management. If you have already thoroughly explored Karak 2, Inferno gives you another reason to return to Karak and embark on a new adventure. Karak 2: Inferno is coming on October 20!
